CERTIFICATE IN ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN (CAT) COURSE

The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament i.e. the Cost and Works Accountants Act, 1959 (23 of 1959).

ICWAI has introduced a course of Accounting Technicians (CAT) for one year duration for 12th (10+2) passed and Graduates in consultation with Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India, to meet the increased demand for accountants at junior level in India. The CAT course has been designed to equip the candidates with the knowledge of maintenance under Companies Act, Filling of Returns under Income Tax, VAT, Service Tax, Central Excise and Custom Act, Export and Import documentation etc

.

OBJECTIVE

  • To develop among the students the necessary skills are required to apply theoretical knowledge of accounting to practical situations in different functional areas of accounting.

  • Exposure to environment under which different organizations work.

  • To provide on-job-experience of practical aspects of Accounting.

  • To develop disciplined attitude required to become an Accountant.

SCOPE

Student after passing CAT course and after Computer and Practical Training and Orientation Training, will acquire necessary skills to take up employment as Junior Accountant Officers or Accountants in Area of :

  1.   Small & Medium Enterprises.;

  2.   Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO);

  3.    Knowledge Processing Outsourcing (KPO);

  4.   Retail Sector;

  5.   Panchayats Accounting and Book-keeping;

  6.   Income Tax Return Preparers;

  7.   Service Tax Return and Under Companies Act;

  8.   Filling of Return under Income Tax, VAT, Service Tax, Central Excise and Custom Act

  9.   Export and Import Documentation etc;

The necessary skills and knowledge would also provide an opportunity to work in different kinds of organizations and will give the choice of wide variety of other job opportunities.  

 

ELIGIBILITY

The Student who have passed/ appearing 12th Class (10+2) examination are eligible to take admission in Foundation (Entry Level) Part-I and CAT Course. Graduate and Foundations passed Student of ICWAI are eligible to take direct admission in competency Level-Part-II.

Paper3 :      Economics and Business Fundamental

Paper4   :    Business Mathematics and Static's Fundamentals

B.      Competency Level –Part-II

Paper5   :    Financial Accounting

Paper7A:    Applied Statutory Compliance

c)    Training

          Computer Training               :               60 Hours   

          Practical Training                 :               6 Months

          Orientation Training             :               15 Days.  

 

MEDIUM

The Course will be in English and Hindi Medium. Study materials will also be available in English and Hindi.
